Open Positions

  • Work within the ERC ConnectToBrain project which aims at developing multilocus transcranial magnetic stimulation (mTMS) to be applied to the human brain in a brain state-dependent approach by utilizing real-time high-density electroencephalographic information about ongoing brain excitability and connectivity. The translational aim of the project is to improve the therapeutic efficacy of mTMS treatment of brain network disorders. The project is a consortium with other principal investigators in Finland and Italy, funded by a European Research Council Synergy Grant. The experiments at Tübingen University focus on testing the new technology in healthy subjects, and in patients with motor stroke and Alzheimer's disease. Our lab provides a world-class scientific research environment and equipment for real-time closed-loop TMS-EEG studies. The position is funded through a contract for 2 years (TV-L E13, 100%) with the possibility to extend.

    Responsibilities

    ●        Work on developing advanced sensor-/source level EEG-TMS analysis pipelines , aiming at extracting EEG-based markers to predict excitability states as tested by TMS perturbation

    ●        Summarize the results in publishable research papers and present them in conferences/workshops.

    ●        Supervise PhD students, as well as Master/Bachelor students working on their theses.

    ●        Work closely with other members of the ConnectToBrain project in Tübingen and across the other collaborating sites.

    ●        Subsequently apply for external funding to support the research path in our lab.

    Requirements

    ●        PhD in biomedical engineering, computer science, computational neuroscience or related areas.

    ●        Good programming skills in MATLAB, Python. Further programming skills are a plus.

    ●        Skills in analyzing EEG and/or EEG-TMS data.

    ●        Fluency in written and spoken English

    ●        Research experience in the form of previous peer-reviewed publications is a plus.

    ●        Problem-solving skills, the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, and independent but collaborative working styles are highly appreciated
